Trying to conceive (TTC) can be so hard if it doesn't happen right away, and the absolute hardest part is feeling like you are powerless and that you just have to wait and see if it happens next month.
I’ve been there. I waited to be pregnant for several months before I finally learned I could actually be preventing my ability to become pregnant. This is why I want to share what I've learned with you all through my journey!

In this blog post, I’m sharing the 5 simple changes I made that allowed me to get pregnant the next month. I’ll be covering:

How I got pregnant the next month after making some changes

How your hormones are affecting your ability to get pregnant

Ways to support you while you make these changes

How to track your cycle

The way nutrition can affect your fertility

How to implement changes to help you get pregnant sooner rather than later

So if you’re tired of struggling through the TTC period, feeling helpless every time you see that negative test, constantly desiring to see your future as a mama come to be, then you’re in the right place!

How I Got Pregnant the Next Month After Making These Changes

I was just a few months into being a newlywed when my husband and I started talking about getting pregnant. At first, it was exciting. I got off the birth control and expected to fall pregnant right away, but it didn't happen.

I was desperate to have a baby sooner rather than later and began worrying that I was infertile. The first thing I started doing was praying. I asked the Lord to quiet my fears and help me trust Him knowing that He is the Creator of life and sovereign. Knowing my desire to be pregnant, I knew the Lord would grant this desire of mine in His perfect timing if it was His will for us to have children.

I had to reach a place of contentment for where I was currently in my life, as well as being content with whatever God's will might be for us...even if that meant no babies.

I also started doing tons of research on nutrition, fertility, and hormones, and I learned some key strategies for preparing the body for pregnancy. There were also some things I was doing that contributes to infertility. While the Lord is ultimately in control, I believe He gives us tools to take care of our bodies, which can also affect our abilities to become pregnant.

So I made some changes by cutting out some things and adding some key foods with tons of nutrients that support a growing baby.

I started feeling great and had something to focus on during the period of waiting. I was content and even though waiting can still be difficult, I was able to put all of that energy into doing something helpful!

So here’s what I learned, and hopefully there's something here that can help you too. This is exactly what I did and got pregnant the following month!

  • How your hormones could be affecting your ability to get and stay pregnant

Our daily lives are filled with environmental, nutritional and even circumstantial factors that affect our hormones. The thing to note is that a lot of chemicals in products such as lotions, soaps, candles, and ultra-processed foods are promoting estrogen production. However, the key here is to realize that our bodies NEED progesterone in order to get and stay pregnant. This is where I realized I may need to balance my hormones better.

I also started taking Progessence Plus from Young Living. Unlike pharmaceuticals, it's not straight progesterone that could cause other problems, but rather it's a natural hormone balancer. You can get it here. I've also heard you can use a Wild Yam Cream, and it's the Wild Yam that is the key ingredient helping to balance hormones in both products, so I’m sure this works wonderful as well.

  • Proper nutrition helps to balance your hormones

One way I helped support my hormones is through changing my nutrition, which I talk more about in my post 15 Foods That Help Support Pregnancy. Basically, I cut out some things that don't help fertility, and added some great sources of nutrition to really amp up my fertility!

  • Stress adds to an imbalance in hormones

Hormones are also greatly affected by stress. We had some major life changes happening the first time I got pregnant called the Pandemic. I was on furlough for about 3 months before I got pregnant. Honestly, I believe not having the stress from work, getting ample sleep every single night, enjoying hobbies, cooking more at home, and having time to work out every day really helped balance my hormones too!

Now, it's not like everyone can just up and quit their jobs, but if you can find ways to greatly relieve your stress it would be so helpful for preparing your body for pregnancy.

  • Track your cycle to understand your fertility

I've tracked my time of the month for years, of course, I'm a woman and we need to know when we start our periods for doctor appointments. That's about the only thing I noted though, when my period started and ended. I didn't really know how important it was to know when my ovulation occurred until I started researching fertility.

There are a couple of different ways to track including taking your temperature, using a testing kit, and noting physical symptoms. Tracking your ovulation gives you a better understanding of your fertility, allows you to know when to do the deed for optimal chances at conceiving, and gives a more accurate due date when conception does occur! This is the app I used to help track symptoms and testing: P Tracker App.

Once I started praying, learning how to balance my hormones, eating nutrition that supports pregnancy, reducing my stress, and tracking my cycles, I got pregnant the following month! I also did the same thing to have my second child, and again got pregnant the following month after implementing these changes. If it worked for me twice, it's possible that it can work for you too! Everyone is different and may have varying nutritional and hormonal needs, but this is a great place to start. Put away your worries and fears to find a place of contentment and possibility!

If you’re ready to make some changes that could balance your hormones, provide nutritional needs necessary for supporting a pregnancy, track your cycle to understand your fertility better, and ultimately help you see those two little lines, I encourage you to get started making these changes now!

If you just want to take that first step, I would really recommend looking at your nutrition first. Food is healing and your body is created to heal itself if we use the tools God has given us.
