As women, I'm sure we've all had to know when we've had our time of the month whether it was for a doctor's office visit or just when we need to restock our feminine products for the next time.

But did you know that knowing more about your period can tell you a lot about your fertility, and even when and how to conceive? Of course, there is a small percentage of possibility that pregnancy can occur at any time, but knowing what I'm going to share will definitely help if you are on your journey of trying to conceive (TTC).

In this blog post, I’m sharing how to understand your fertility better in order to get pregnant. Specifically, I'll be talking about:

How tracking your cycle can help you understand your fertility

How healthy fertility is needed for conception

Different ways of tracking your cycle

When to do the baby dance for optimal results

What you can use to help conceive

If you’re ready to understand how your body works and when the best time is to do the deed to get pregnant, let's learn how to track your cycle!

  • How tracking your cycle can help you understand your fertility

First of all, your cycle should be occurring every month. If it is not, speaking to a specialist may be in your best interest. I would also recommend checking out my post 5 Simple Changes I Made To Get Pregnant Faster. There may be some things you can start doing that could help you take charge of that fertility without spending thousands on doctors.

Your cycle should also be occurring about the same amount of days apart. If you are having irregular periods, that could be a sign that something is wrong. However, remember there are two ovaries that produce eggs, so sometimes the two ovaries have a different amount of days occurring.

  • How healthy fertility is needed for conception

If there seems like something is off with your fertility, it may prove difficult to conceive. You may think you are infertile, but there are ways to get your body working optimally again! You can help your body's systems to function well again, God created our bodies to heal. • Different ways of tracking your cycle

Tracking your cycle is not only about knowing when your period starts and ends, but there are other physical symptoms you can track as well as doing testing. There are several apps you can use to help keep track of all of the data. The one I personally have used for years is P Tracker App.. I like it because there are different modes you can set it to, such as abstinence and TTC, and it will hide or open up different options you should be noticing.

Here are the symptoms for TTC you can take note of and input the data into your app:

-BB Temperature

-OPK

-Cervical Mucus

-Cervical Observations

BB Temperature is your Basal Body Temperature or your body's temperature at rest. You want to take this temperature every morning at the same time before you get up out of bed. When you input the data into your app it will create a chart and show you where you dip. A significant dip should indicate ovulation has occurred.

Of course, you only know when you ovulated after it's happened through BB temping. This is where OPK's come in, or Ovulation Predictor Kits. Every day during the week you should be ovulating, you can test to see when it will occur. When you get a positive (which is way darker than the test line), you should be ovulating in the next 24-48 hours. Click here for the ones I recommend and have used before.

Your cervical mucus can also help indicate what part of phase you are in with your cycle. When you are ovulating, it will be like an egg white consistency, stretchy and slimy. Other cervical observations will be how high or low your cervix is. There can be other reasons to have this kind of mucus, so it’s not a great tell if you use it by itself. Also, a high, open cervix is a sign of ovulation, whereas a low, closed position indicates it is not time.

  • When to do the baby dance for optimal results

Now that you're tracking your cycle more closely, you'll know when you ovulate. The prime time to have sex is during the week of ovulation as much as possible. If every day works for you both then do that, but every other day could work just as well. Just have fun with the process and don't stress about how many times it needs to happen. Honestly, one time can be enough, more than that just adds to the possibility chances.

Also, if you're not praying for the Lord to open your womb and bless you with a baby, start now! God is the creator of life and ultimately the one who decides whether you will conceive or not.

  • What you can use to help conceive

One item that I used that may be controversial is something called Pre-Seed. If you're already using some sort of lubricant for the deed, this may be one you want to try! Other lubricants can actually hinder sperm, but Pre-Seed has a similar ph balance as vaginal fluid, so it aids in sperm survival. The prime time to use this lubricant would be during your week of ovulation every time you baby dance!

Along with tracking your cycle, there are several ways to go about supporting conception without having to go to the doctor or spend thousands on IVF. Make sure you're eating the right nutrition for pregnancy and check out the 5 Simple Changes I Made To Get Pregnant Faster . The three main nutritional supplements I suggest using are Fortune Delight and Shakeology. I used them prior to becoming pregnant both times, and it worked for me! Give your body what it NEEDS to support a growing baby.

If you aren't already doing it, definitely start tracking your cycle using symptoms, temperature, and testing. Make sure that you're doing everything you can to optimize your health and wellness before pregnancy by checking out my other posts linked below. I'm praying for you and hope your TTC journey is filled with contentment in the waiting and joy in the process!
